Twelfth Night /XL
14/12/2024 @ 20:15 - 22:00
Twelfth Night was originally written by Shakespeare as a subtly queer celebration within the norms of the 17th century. Back then, all roles in England were played by men, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the love scenes and gender confusion in the play. Twelfth Night is a romantic comedy where Orsino falls for Olivia, but she isn’t interested. So, Orsino sends Cesario to woo her on his behalf. Cesario does this so convincingly that the resulting chaos is brilliantly entertaining.
Ayden Carlo reimagines Shakespeare’s text from a modern queer perspective, transforming it into an energetic, vibrant, and delightfully madcap comedy for today. One thing remains certain: love always wins.
